200-hour yoga teacher training at Aham Yoga

If you’re loving your yoga journey so far & would like to deepen your understanding of yoga, then read on. While its called the 200-hour yoga teacher training program. That hardly explains what this is really about. Firstly, you don’t need to become a yoga teacher. Now or ever. You can study for the sheer love of studying yoga. You can do it to enrich and enhance your life. The program is geared to help you understand yoga in a way thats practical for you in your current life. Some of you may want to teach asana at some point. And we’ve made provisions for this. But at its core, it an in-depth study and apply yoga to your life program. For marketing reasons, I will be using the term 200-hour yoga teacher training. But please don’t let that stop you in any form from doing this study program.

Are you a suitable candidate for 200-hour yoga teacher training?

This program works if you’re ready to jump into it and be a fully invested participant. Here’s what you need to know.

  • Do you have a consistent asana practice in the past year? Don’t worry about how advanced or not. Do you come regularly to your yoga class or do you practice at home on your own regularly? If your answer is yes, or somewhat yes. Then you are eligible
  • You need to be able to attend instudio classes for all the weekends. Each weekend is immersive so make sure you clear out your schedule and be ready to be present

What’s the schedule?

  • The training is offered in a weekend intensive format. It will fly by quickly once we get started. Your classes will run from 11am to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • The training starts September 14th and will stop December 15th, 2024.
  • We are closed the weekend of Thanksgiving. We will also give you a couple of weekends break as possible once the traning begins. But this is your training schedule at a glance.
  • If you have to miss a weekend, please let us know in advance.

What to expect?

Think of it as an extended class at Aham yoga. Your days will involve being immersed in asana, theory, learning yogic wisdom and philosphy, breathing practices, how to restore yourself, and discussions about living yoga in your day to day life.

You will also have lunch breaks and mini breaks during the day.

  • An in-depth exploration of asanas. Understanding the ins and outs of the fundamental yoga poses. For yourself and for others.
  • How to use yoga to cope with life’s transitions, injuries and other conditions

  • How to breathe and basic pranayamas
  • How to rest deeply in shavasana
  • How to rest in restorative yoga

  • What is yoga philosophy? Learning and living the basics
  • Anatomy of human body
  • Mind management through yoga
  • Enhancing our ability to stay present
  • Basics of learning to meditate
  • Self practice planning & class plan building
  • Teaching practice (for those who wish to teach)
  • Cueing and communication about yoga
  • Cultural appropriation of yoga
  • And much more….

If you don’t see something you wish to learn in this list. Just ask us. Chances are its in the syllabus but we didnt want to make this blog post 3 pages long. 🙂

Who are you studying with?

Your lead trainer is Arundhati Baitmangalkar. Who is a globally recognized and respected yoga teacher. She has trained 1000s of yoga teachers till date locally and online and helped them become ambassadors of yoga, enrich their practice and relationships and build a successful yoga teacher career for those who are interested. Her yoga schooling happened in India and she has been teaching for over 2 decades. Her approach to yoga is direct, authentic and wholesome.
